When your opponent does something you don’t quite understand look through the play history and read the card text, then put the interactions together in your head. You don’t need to have an encyclopedic knowledge of every card in the game, either-the goal early on should be to know the core cards that make up most of the common deck archetypes, as well as some fringe/tech choices that pop up regularly.
